DHURANDAR IS BANNED, at the same time,
MOST-WANTED IN PAKISTAN

dhurandar cutout_edited.png

Dhurandhar is almost a case study for media paradoxes. Officially banned in Pakistan over concerns of misrepresentation and political sensitivity, the film crossed approximately 2 million illegal downloads in Pakistan within the first two weeks of its release, making it one of the most pirated Indian films in the country in recent years.

This does not point to mass endorsement, nor to ideological alignment. It points to curiosity, the kind that emerges when content is restricted.

In the digital era, a ban does not reduce visibility. It gets relocated. Viewers turn to torrents, private sharing platforms, VPN-enabled streaming, and closed networks,

just to satisfy their curiosity. So here what followed was not public celebration but silent consumption and even cinema halls remained HOUSEFULL for weeks: The kind Bollywood hasn't seen of late.

Dhurandhar’s trajectory in Pakistan offers a plot twist for filmmakers—limitations on access may redirect, rather than reduce, audience attention.

Of course the stream of actors and the line-up of Bollywood biggies in the film helped, and now someone is laughing all the way to the bank!

Canadian Film on Kolkata RG Kar doctor murder earns 12 global accolades

Kaashful Teaser | Watch the full film below

Kaashful, the first, and perhaps only documentary surrounding the heinous R.G. Kar rape and murder case in Kolkata, chronicles the uprising following a human tragedy that shook West Bengal for over three months last year.

The incident jolted the state from its usual laid-back rhythm, halting festivals and bringing its typically complacent society onto the streets in a wave of its trademark, “cultural protests”.

In just eight months, Kaashful has garnered international acclaim, winning a plethora of awards across festivals in Asia, Europe, and Americas.

Directed by gold medalist Canadian filmmaker, Kolkata-born Aneesh Chatterjee, and produced by KAA Media Films (Canada), the film features an innovative visual metaphor in the form of a clay statue of the Devil, specially crafted by renowned sculptor Debayal Pal.
